MOSCOW — Three captains of Japanese fishing boats who have been detained by Russian border guards were indicted Saturday for violating territorial waters, Russian authorities said Sunday. The first court hearing will likely be held in January at a court on the disputed Kunashiri Island, they said.
Four fishing boats with a total of four captains and seven crew members were seized off Kunashiri on Dec 13. Of the 11, six crew members and a captain who suffers from diabetes were released by Thursday, while the remaining four are still being detained by the Russian side.
